TAMS, WHERE DOES YOUR CREATIVITY LIVE?

“In my mind and with my friends.”

Can you give us a rundown of your story?

I’ve always been a designer since I was 4 years old and would make dresses for my Barbies out of toilet paper and tape. Over the years I would re-work clothes from my mum's closet and then eventually I would apply to fashion school where you couldn’t catch me without my sketch book and camera in hand. Since then I’ve been working on building my point of view in the fashion space. When I started Tams I wanted to create pieces me and my friends would wear.

Have you always wanted to do this craft you do now?

Yes. Since I was 4.

What message do you try to convey in your work?

Nostalgia. I want my pieces and my brand to feel like a memorable memory. Something that makes you feel happy and you want to hold onto.

What’s your favourite piece of media? What makes it good in your eyes?

My favourite piece of media lately has been vlogs. I love a good nonsensical vlog. I guess what makes it good is when it's not overproduced, when I feel like I’m FaceTiming with a friend versus being sold countless products. I miss the early YouTube era when people came online to be themselves. Now it's harder to not be a product of your own creation.

What does Capsul bring out of you?

Capsul brings out the ability to tell a story.

What does Capsul provide you?

Capsul provides a space for a young designer like me to tell a fashion story and create memories with friends :)

What have you been listening to these days?

BOF podcast, Fashion Roadman on Youtube (Love), and The Debrief, so many fashion podcasts I should probably take a break. When it comes to music Shygirl, Lana Del Rey, The Garden, Webb.

What are you up to after this?

Going home to sew.
