Residency 08 is packed with people to watch: Exploring the intentions of Kevin, Cleo, and Alessia

We are continually expanding our residency program to provide more opportunities, showcase greater talent, and foster creativity within our community. Our goal is to make a significant impact by amplifying the stories of Toronto's vibrant creative scene. In a city abundant with talent, Capsul's growth extends our reach to these exceptional individuals.

Kevin: Capturing memories like they should be

If you’ve attended APT 200, AMPM, Rolling Loud, or almost any major summer event, you’ve likely been seen through this man's viewfinder. Known under the handle @PolaroidKev, he actively uses Polaroid film to capture each and every person he comes across during the limited time he has at night or during events. Accumulating well over 1,000 physical Polaroids, Kev has made himself a staple in the creative and club community.

Kev is the type of photographer who makes standing in front of the camera easy, capturing you in the perfect moment just as you fully settle. His creativity and personality shine through his connections with Chronic Ink and his personal expressions.

Cleo: Crafting elegance for fun and a night on Ossington

Imagine going to dinner in a dress—not just any dress, but one tailored to fit you as if you were attending a Victorian ball. Cleo William, a womenswear designer under the brand name @Shopsoapstudio, offers a sophisticated alternative to the usual T-shirts and jeans, envisioning a world where fun and elegance blend seamlessly into every piece, from frilled shorts to statement garments.

Watching the evolution of a designer is always exciting, especially as they embark on a journey to develop a unique voice for their next collection. The anticipation grows for the release of Cleo William’s personal projects, with garments designed to give the Queen Street fashionista a stylish edge while grabbing coffee.
Alessia: Fabricating ethereal hardware

What started as declutering turned into  a gesture of appreciation for friends and loved ones during COVID-19 blossoming into a vehicle to create a world that resembles the movies we grew up watching. In a conversation where she broke down the eras of Disney in ways I hadn’t considered before, I realized Alessia was born to craft.

Designing jewelry under the brand name @Byf.ath, Alessia’s vision is as solid as the stones on her pieces. She creates chunky jewelry that evokes the charm of fairytale characters like Tinkerbell, Captain Hook, and Ariel. Her work and its outputs are strikingly bold. As a young fabricator, Alessia is creatively inclined and keenly aware, conveying that the world her creations belong to is an ethereal one, particularly when she directs her visuals.

Capsul stands as a testament to the power of artistic diversity. Kev, Cleo, and Alessia each with their unique talents and perspectives, come together to form a harmonious collective of creativity. Through photography, jewelry making, and production, they breathe life into the studio's vibrant artistic ecosystem.

As Capsul continues to thrive and evolve, we can only anticipate the awe-inspiring creations that will emerge from this artistic hub. For those who appreciate the beauty of diversity in art, Capsul is a beacon of inspiration, reminding us of the boundless potential that comes when talented individuals unite under a common creative roof. Stay tuned for more from Michael, Ash, and Stella, as they continue to push the boundaries of their respective crafts and elevate the world of art to new heights.
